How To Capture the Right Attention With Great Visual Content!

Writer: Liz DevonshireLiz Devonshire

In my September post, Raise Your Marketing Game, I looked at why creative content is key to effective business marketing.

It’s difficult to overestimate the benefits professional imagery brings to your small business marketing. This article in Forbes suggests that images are critical because - they are easy to identify, we understand them intuitively, they evoke emotions, they can be more memorable, and they create audience engagement.

Through personal brand photography, you will take each of these benefits to another level:

  • The photographs will show you in scenarios your audience will recognise.

  • Your photos will tell a story people relate to with positive outcomes they’ll engage with.

  • Creating content with you, your work, and your audience at the heart of it, will generate engagement and recognition you’ll never get without these visuals.

The Visual Revolution - Content Creation to Reach Your Audience

So, how do you ensure your visual content is effective?

Keep it Consistent

Keeping a consistent visual style throughout your content helps you build brand recognition and trust. When your audience sees these familiar visuals, they're more likely to associate them with your brand and remember your message.

This consistency is necessary everywhere your audience is likely to see you. It’s important that your company is recognisable from your social media presence, website, book cover and event banner - inconsistencies raise confusion.

Stay On Brand

Not only should the style of your images be consistent, but they must also consistently reflect your brand - using colours, fonts, and appropriate styles. While it’s not necessary to have a logoed mug in every photo, ensuring your brand colours are felt throughout will help with brand recognition and make your photos easier to use.

Ensuring alignment with your brand identity also means thinking about your messaging; this will ensure your overall aesthetic is consistent with your brand's personality as well as your specified colours and fonts. When your visuals are on brand, they will reinforce your message and create a cohesive experience for your audience.

Audience Focused

Making sure your visuals are tailored to your target audience is essential; you should consider their preferences, demographics, and interests - you want your prospective clients to see themselves in your images.

Be Visible

Within your content, it’s important that you don’t hide yourself. While you want your audience to picture themselves in your world, it’s essential that they see you too. This is how you ensure your visibility online, helping people recognise you and your brand.

Think about how you want to be seen, the kind of impression you want people to have of you, and make sure the visuals you use achieve that. Think about the profile picture you use on social media and communities; it should be clear and high-quality, reflecting you and your brand personality. It should also be recent and relevant; using outdated visuals can have a negative impact on your brand's perception, so keep them fresh and relevant to avoid appearing past it.

Know, Like, Trust

Your visuals will play a significant role in building a connection with your audience and establishing trust. Storytelling and emotional visuals can help your audience relate to your brand on a deeper level, inspiring loyalty and affection.

It’s not just about having images; it’s about having the right images!

Your audience is smart; they are bombarded with visual content daily and want to see something that stands out, feels different, and reflects you.

DIY-ing It

We’ve talked before about making the most of your brand photographs; with the right professional session, you’ll have enough photos to use for many months - managing content across any number of platforms.

There are times, though, when you’ll need something extra - additional photos to keep you going when seasons have changed, you have a new offer, or you’re out and about. How confident are you about taking your own photos for content?

Most of us will use our phones for a selfie or to capture a moment behind the scenes, but do you ever take the picture and then feel uncomfortable using it because it doesn’t work as well as you’d like? I can actually help with that, too!

With my brand new package launched this month I can ensure you have the skills to fill in the gaps when I can’t be there.
